This year, God has really impressed on me the significance of Jesus' name Emmanuel. It signifies what Jesus means to the world... a way to be with our God. Emmanuel-- God with us. What more could God do to prove that He loves us and wants to save us and have a relationship with us than to become one of us? When Jesus was born, it was the first time since man sinned in the garden that God has visibly walked among us.
Colossians 1:13-15
"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."
That's the amazing power of Christmas. God incarnate... wrapped in flesh... born as a baby by a woman... and being our Emmanuel-- God with us. And this amazing, heaven-sent promise of Emmanuel is one that remains with us today.
Matthew 28:18
Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We are free. We are saved. Sing out loud.
Our God is always with us.
Our God is always with us.
