CS Lewis is officially my favorite author.
Let me qualify that statement.
CS Lewis did not write my very favorite fiction books. (Though he wrote some that fall in my top 10.)
CS Lewis did not write my very favorite non-fiction book. (Though I have absolutely loved Mere Christianity so far.)
I do not necessarily agree with everything CS Lewis has written.
So... then what on earth do I mean when I say that he is my favorite author?
I mean this:
He has written some of my favorite books, both fiction and non-fiction, and has written one of my top 5 favorite books of all time, The Screwtape Letters.
As far as pure writing style goes, I find him the most enjoyable to read.
If God offered to give me the skill set of any one author, I would choose CS Lewis. He is my writing role-model.
He is my favorite person to quote.
So I've been running into a bit of trouble lately. I absolutely love CS Lewis quotes, and I find more and more that I like every passing week. The problem? I can only have one quote up on my status at any given time. And I can't explain why they are so important to me.
But, I have a solution.
I've been wanting to start blogging more consistently again anyway. So, I am going to try to write about one CS Lewis quote a week. We'll see how it goes.
A couple questions for you:
-Who are your favorite authors to read?
-Who do you think was one of the most effective communicators, specifically writing, of all time?
-What's your favorite CS Lewis book, or, what is your opinion of his writing?
Stand firm!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteHappened to come across this blog. Very nice. Interesting questions at the end:
My favorite author is R.K.Narayan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._K._Narayan) ....I not sure about his popularity on your part of the world.....Also this choice is not among the all time list as it may not be fair to compare writers of different eras (even thought both are playwrights George Bernad Shaw could not be compared with William Shakespeare).....
what are your thoughts??
cheers
