Words~ A Poem

This is a poem by Rachel Aldrich and... "I have absolutely no idea what it's about. But, when I was small I was made to learn it by heart so I don't see why you shouldn't suffer too. " ~Thomas Clarkson, Amazing Grace

Just kidding. It got 1st place at the fair, so I figured I could post it for you to read. Can't be TOO terrible, right?
Actually, that's not saying much, since I was the ONLY one who entered in Rhymed Poetry... nobody knows how to rhyme anymore! It's a lost art...
Anyway... here's the poem and I hope you don't suffer too much. :)

~Words~

Words are unruly creatures,
You have to keep them under lock and key,
Because if you’re careless with your words,
You never know what they might be.
My words don’t always go to others,
To bring comfort or bring joy,
My words often go to others,
Those others to annoy.
Words won’t form themselves,
So we need to stay alert,
Our words, when left alone,
Will often only bring hurt.
That’s why I like writing,
My words before they’re said,
Because then I can go back and read them,
And reread what I’ve read!
When my words leave my head,
Through my fingers to a pen,
I can always go back and erase it,
I can take back what I’ve said.
But when my words leave my mouth,
They’re no longer mine, you see,
They belong to whoever heard them,
To discuss over tomorrow’s tea.
So I try to read my words in my head,
Before they ever come out in what I say,
And I have to do this,
Every moment of every day.
Because if you wouldn’t want them,
In a book to be read,
Then they probably shouldn’t,
Ever really be said.

Soli Deo Gloria!

No, I will not stoop to begging for comments through annoying blinkies... but please?
